Your Sonos alarms, set from your Mac

Wake up to a favourite station, a playlist or the Sonos Chime. Doppelgänger saves each alarm on your speakers, so it rings even when your Mac is asleep or switched off.

How it works

  1. Open Alarms at the top of the room sidebar, next to ★ Scenes. You see every alarm on your Sonos system.
  2. Choose Add alarm, then set the time, the room and the music.
  3. Pick how often it repeats, how loud it plays and for how long, and save. The alarm is now on your speakers.

What you can set

  • Time: 12-hour or 24-hour, as you choose in Doppelgänger → Settings
  • Room, or a whole group of rooms
  • Music: the Sonos Chime, one of your Sonos favourites or a Sonos playlist. A favourite can be a radio station, an album or a playlist from your music service.
  • Repeat: once, daily, weekdays, weekends, or the days you choose
  • Volume
  • Duration: 15 or 30 minutes, 1 or 2 hours, or until you stop it
  • Shuffle the music

The same alarms as in the Sonos app

Sonos keeps alarms on the speakers, not in an app. Doppelgänger shows the alarms you set in the Sonos app, and the alarms you set in Doppelgänger show in the Sonos app too. Change one in either app, and both see the change.

Each alarm has a switch in the list. Turn it off for the holidays and on again later, without setting it up again. To remove an alarm, use the bin next to it or Delete alarm while you edit it.

Questions

Does my Mac have to be on for an alarm to ring?

No. The alarm is saved on your Sonos speakers, and they play it at the set time whether Doppelgänger is running or not.

Can I wake up to a station or a Spotify playlist?

Yes, if it's in your Sonos favourites or is a Sonos playlist. Add the station or playlist to your Sonos favourites first, then pick it as the alarm's music.

Can an alarm play in several rooms?

Yes. Choose a group instead of a single room, and the alarm plays in every room of that group.

Can the music stop by itself at night?

Yes, with the sleep timer: it stops a room after 15 minutes to 2 hours.

What do I need?

A Mac with Apple silicon and a Sonos S2 system on the same network. Alarms are free to try for 14 days with every other feature; after that, adding or changing alarms needs a licence, €29.95 once. Alarms you set before keep ringing, and you can always switch one off or delete it.

Adding and changing alarms needs a licence after the trial.
