Fall asleep to your music — Sonos stops it for you

Set a sleep timer on any room from your Mac. The speaker counts down by itself and stops the music, even if your Mac goes to sleep first.

How it works

  1. In the room sidebar, click the clock on the room's card.
  2. Choose how long the music should keep playing: 15, 30 or 45 minutes, 1 hour or 2 hours.
  3. When the time is up, the room stops playing. To cancel earlier, open the clock again and choose Off.

What you see

  • The clock on the card lights up while a timer is running
  • Open it to see how much time is left, read from the speaker itself
  • Change the time or switch the timer off whenever you like

The timer runs on the speaker

Doppelgänger hands the timer to your Sonos speaker, and the speaker does the counting. You can close Doppelgänger or let your Mac sleep, and the music still stops on time. If the room is grouped, the timer stops the whole group.

Questions

Does my Mac have to stay awake?

No. The speaker counts down and stops the music by itself, so your Mac can sleep or be switched off.

Can I set a sleep timer on a group?

Yes. Set it on the group's card, and every room in the group stops together.

Is this the same as an alarm?

No. A sleep timer stops the music after a while; an alarm starts music at a set time. You can use both from your Mac.

What do I need?

A Mac with Apple silicon and a Sonos S2 system on the same network. The sleep timer is free to try for 14 days with every other feature; after that, starting a timer needs a licence, €29.95 once. Switching a running timer off always works.

Starting a sleep timer needs a licence after the trial.
